Job Description – Technical Engineer (Precast)

Role Purpose:

To prepare, review, and manage all technical documentation related to precast elements, ensuring engineering accuracy, production feasibility, and smooth coordination between design, factory, and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drawing & Technical Documentation

  • Prepare production drawings, shop drawings, reinforcement details, and lifting diagrams for precast elements.

  • Review IFC/GA drawings and convert them into factory-ready production sheets.

  • Validate dimensions, openings, embeds, lifting points, camber, and rebar details as per design requirements.

  • 2. Coordination with Design, Production & Site

    • Liaise with structural engineers, architects, BIM teams, and project engineers for clarifications.

    • Coordinate with mould carpentry, rebar team, concrete team, and yard supervisors to resolve technical issues.

    • Support installation teams with erection drawings, lifting plans, and element handling instructions.

  • 3. Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure drawings meet project specifications, codes, and precast manufacturing standards.

    • Conduct technical checks to prevent reworks, dimensional errors, and site mismatches.

    • Raise RFIs and NCRs for deviations, and support with root cause analysis and corrections.

  • 4. Material & Quantity Control

    • Prepare accurate BOQs, rebar schedules, inserts list, and concrete volumes for each element.

    • Coordinate material requirements with Stores, Procurement, and Production Planning.

  • 5. Production Support

    • Provide on-ground technical support during mould setup, rebar fixing, embed installation, and pre-pour inspections.

    • Verify element geometry, reinforcement placement, cover, and embed positions before casting.

  • 6. Reporting & Documentation

    • Maintain logs for drawing revisions, approvals, and RFI status.

    • Track element production progress and ensure closure of all technical issues.
